Last weekend all eyes were on Strasbourg as the European Youth Event welcomed 5,000 young Europeans aged between 16 and 30 from the 28 Member States and beyond. The event, hosted by the European Parliament, focused onfive key issues for young people today: youth unemployment, the digital revolution, the future of the European Union, sustainable development, and European values. Participants also included thinkers, decision-makers and key figures from business, research, culture and society.
Over 200 workshops, debates, as well as cultural and sports activities outside the Parliament took place 9-11 May and helped developa set of ideas, which will be handed out to the Members of the European Parliament elected for the new legislative period 2014-2019 and will serve as a source of inspiration for them throughout the legislature.
The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme was also present at the event with six sessiosn, which covered different aspects of the programme. In the practical sessions participants learned how to participate in Erasmus and to gain skill and had the opportunity to discuss how the EUcansupport entrepreneurs and start-ups better during the World-Cafe style participatory session. The business ideas contest, which took place during the pitching session, also attracted a lot of interest and culminated with the awards ceremony and the launch of the celebrations for the 5th anniversary of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs.
