Chiara is a young artis who’s launching an independent animation studio specialized in Stop Motion, a business that can mix a modern audiovisual language with hand-crafted technique, giving new possibilities of storytelling and explore the potential of the media, producing animation projects for various age targets. She joined the programme to enlarge her network and have international relationships to create collaboration with other studios in different countries. The host entrepreneur - Mathieu - has been directly engaged as director of a business specialized in animation, especially in stop motion (animation of real puppet), a quite rare technic. He was keen to come in touch with artists interested in working with this technique. He joined the programme to work with Chiara, to develop and produce 2 short movies in stopmotion and create some synergies and cooperation opportunities in Italy.

The new and host entrepreneur worked on several activities about different areas, covering the entire production pipeline of a short film: from the preparation phase, budget creation, character building and post-production work. During the exchange period, the NE and the HE could focus on new knowledge and manual techniques, sharing competencies in the different tools of an animation studio and in the creative and production environment. The NE could develop a personal project by working on a short film with the mentoring of the HE who revised the sc ript and visualised some production aspects, which helped her to understand the next steps for its realisation.

The results obtained are in line with the expected outcome of the exchange. The NE could learn different skills, while also benefiting from a different working method from the one she was used to in Italy. It was also interesting to her to understand how the whole bureaucratic system works regarding this work and to realise that in France there is better support for working in the entertainment industry, something she will work on once back to Italy by committing herself to divulging a new way of working that allows for more efficient conditions and support. She also had the chance to develop a good professional relationship with the HE and the team to enlarge her network and start a long term cooperation. At the same time, the HE could develop a new contact in Italy where his business has not expanded yet and identify some new possibilities to coproduce movies in the country, sharing knowledge about stop motion.
