As a native of Germany, I always dreamt of becoming a successful entrepreneur, building company that would make a significant impact and surrounding myself with a team that shared my values and drive. In pursuit of this dream, I started my pet insurance broker platform and was eager to take the next step. With less than a year of entrepreneurial experience under my belt, I yearned for guidance and insight to navigate the challenging path ahead. It was at this crucial juncture that I heard about the "Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs" programme through a friend's recommendation. Intrigued, I decided to participate at the beginning of 2023. The programme felt like the perfect bridge between my previous job and my entrepreneurial aspirations. I envisioned it as an opportunity to learn from experienced individuals and strengthen my skillset.
Upon arrival, I discovered that Sebastian's startup despite being in its early stages operated with exceptional organization and motivation. The atmosphere in the office was invigorating, mirroring the competitive yet supportive nature of a high-performance sports team - a feeling I had cherished during my days as a professional athlete. From day one I was embraced as a true team member. I actively contributed to ongoing projects, applying my skills and enthusiasm to assist the team. Sebastian played a pivotal role as my mentor, guiding me through the intricacies of selling to partners handling the mental pressures of entrepreneurship and building a scalable organization. The experience also deepened my understanding of the momentum data development, which was invaluable.
Surprisingly; there were no significant deviations from my expectations during this journey. The exchange was a seamless experience free from unexpected hurdles or failures. Instead, it was a continuous stream of growth and learning. The impact of this exchange was significant. My skills in digital demand, generation and sale saw a marked improvement and I gained a profound insight into leading a startup team. I even managed to enhance my table tennis skills, thanks to the friendly competitions in the office! For my business the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs experience was a game-changer. I learned how to build a digital sales and social selling strategy, recruit top talents and access potential investors. My business plan remained intact but I now had the tools to execute it more effectively.
