Participating in the EYE program in the Netherlands was an eye-opening experience that shed light on the practical aspects of the art business. This opportunity allowed me to gain a broad understanding of the art industry and gave me valuable insights into the behind-the-scenes work for art display.

Thanks to the EYE Program I have the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds who share their experiences and offer a distinct and refreshing input. With Alexandra, we developed an exhibition concept that would be constructive for both the Dutch and Moldovan contexts.

Art Gallery Business, Creative Industry, Art Market
The host entrepreneur Kiki Petratou, from the Netherlands, is a gallery proprietor, curator, and cultural producer who has been dedicatedly engaged in comprehending, conceptualizing, and innovating models to support, showcase, and foster development within the realm of art and culture. The term exchange holds profound significance in the host's portfolio, which includes diverse collaborations within the international cultural sphere. Her decision to join the EYE program stems from a heartfelt recommendation by a colleague in Brussels, an act for which she holds deep gratitude. The new entrepreneur from Moldova, Alexandra Mihalas, is a cultural manager and aspiring entrepreneur. She has chosen to participate in the program with the aim of enhancing her knowledge of the Art Business and the global art market. Additionally she intends to gain insights into the operational aspects related to both commercial and non-profit projects at the JOEY RAMONE gallery. This includes a thorough analysis of the gallery's approach to artist selection and curatorship. Her final goal is to open her own art gallery in Chisinau.
Together with her host, Alexandra embarked on a transformative journey where they meticulously crafted an application portfolio for two prestigious international art fairs: Art Brussels and the Ballroom Project in Antwerp. During this process, the new entrepreneur delved deep into the intricacies of both the Dutch and international art markets. Armed with this newfound knowledge, she systematically revamped her business plan and strategies poised for greater success in the art world. Alexandra's learning journey extended beyond market analysis. She refined essential techniques for engaging art collectors effectively and gained invaluable insights into the art of preparing documentation for art sales. The second month was dedicated to the development of a collaborative project. Guided by the Kiki, Alexandra delved into a comprehensive exploration of funding opportunities and conducted meticulous research. Together, the entrepreneurs masterfully crafted the project's concept and prepared a compelling project presentation.
The collaboration between the entrepreneurs extended to the production and presentation of the thought-provoking exhibition titled "Costa Paraiso", by Anna Moreno. This creative endeavor allowed Alexandra to immerse herself in the practical aspects of curatorial work and exhibition management. She also had the privilege of networking with key figures in the Dutch art scene and had the unique opportunity to interact with prominent international artists. These encounters enriched her perspective and expanded her artistic horizons. This immersive journey not only broadened the new entrepreneur's knowledge and skill set, but also solidified her position as an emerging entrepreneur in the vibrant world of art and culture. The cooperation was a win-win situation for both entrepreneurs. As a result of their involvement in the EYE exchange program, Alexandra and Kiki successfully submitted a proposal to the Mondriaan Fund for the International Art Presentation Program, in order to develop a common exhibition in the Republic of Moldova.
