Romina Beiroa (NE)
Romina Beiroa Rey, a passionate nutritionist with a keen interest in culture and identity, graduated in 2018. Her journey has taken her across Latin America, where she witnessed the significance of food and culture in shaping individual and collective identities. She ignited the Nutri.arrt project in Ireland. This fusion and transcultural initiative brings together food, art, and diverse cultures, encouraging meaningful conversations about food's significance in areas such as culture, diversity, migration, and health.
Romina Cruañas (HE)
Ro, an interdisciplinary artist based in Ireland since 2007, wears many creative hats as a performer, theatre director, playwright, facilitator, poet, and arts worker. Ro has amassed over a decade of experience in Irish and international theatre, festivals, and museums. Ro's art reflects the intersection of their diverse identity, bridging seemingly opposed groups and fostering connections among different communities.
We teamed up in 2022 for some epic activities! We rocked the Rather Gather Festival 2022, also brought you Nutri.arrt experiences like Raviolution, Tallarinada, and Mateico Comics, and birthed the awesome Fusion Murga project. We talked food, art, identity, culture, migration, health, and shared delicious cooking moments. And guess what? We collaborated with amazing folks like Mother Tongues, Intercultural Artists Network and Theatre Forum.
What's Fusion Murga, you ask? It's a wild ride where artists and art lovers come together to create magic! Think theatre, comedy, music, costumes, makeup, visual arts, poetry, food-sharing, and space-animating fun!
But that's not all! We threw the epic Rather Gather Festival, featuring live music, interdisciplinary workshops, cooking experiences, collaborative meals, art exhibitions, face painting, yoga, canto al agua, full moon rituals, tarot, fire, camping, and rocking Irish music festivals like Wildroots, Body and Soul, Another Love Story, and Electric Picnic!
Romina Beiroa (NE): The Host granted me access to a remarkable interdisciplinary space that allowed me to unleash my creativity. I found myself amongst a vibrant community of artists, art enthusiasts, and collaborators. We developed a valuable partnership, participating in activities, events, and festivals.
"Unleash your creativity with Rather Gather, Nutri.arrt, and Fusion Murga – where art, food, and community collide!"
Romina Cruañas (HE): I am grateful for the support and the opportunity to share, learn, compare, and create together during this time. Although we faced challenges, our focus remained on problem-solving, co-creating solutions. I would not have been able to handle the weight of these changes without their involvement. "Grateful for the shared growth and unforgettable creations. At Rather Gather, teamwork and resilience shine with Romina!”
For both sides, the exchange period was like planting seeds that will grow into fruitful co-collaborations in the future.
